This summer, the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground is set host an exquisite food and drink extravaganza. The Home of Food, which echoes the stadium’s nickname (Home of Cricket), marks the first time the renowned stadium opens its grounds for a non-sporting event. The event intends to attract more tourists and improve the venue's charm.

The event will take place on September 9 and 10 this year. The culinary extravaganza is the creation of top chef Tommy Banks, who is known for his Michelin-starred restaurants The Black Swan at Oldstead and Roots in York, as well as The Edrich at Lord's Cricket Ground.

The Home of Food will feature a varied mix of the United Kingdom’s (UK) renowned chefs and food trucks, making it a feast for gastronomes. Gareth Ward of the two Michelin-starred Ynyshir in Wales, Richard Corrigan of Bentley's Oyster Bar & Grill, author and chef Selin Kiazim of Oklava, Northcote's Lisa Goodwin Allen, and Opheem's Aktar Islam are among those who will be preparing delectable dishes during the event.

Additionally, Nokx Majozi and Liam Fauchard-Newman of Rosewood London's Holborn Dining Room will bring their famous pies, and Panzer's, a local New York-style deli, will be on-site with a range of their delicious food. The delicatessen has been serving the St John's Wood community since 1944.

The event will also have cricket taster sessions and cooking courses for kids, as well as expert-guided tours of the iconic ground. Several of Tommy Banks' other chefs will also make visits to The Home of Food to demonstrate their favourite dishes.

Visitors may expect special bookable events, tastings, and banquets, as well as a Sunday Lunch from Banks' soon-to-open Yorkshire pub, The Abbey Inn.

Andy Muggleton, Assistant Secretary for Commercial at Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), has expressed his enthusiasm for the new initiative.

“History and heritage are prevalent at MCC but we’re also looking to the future and this new venture is a very exciting part of that," Muggleton said.

Banks also voiced his excitement, stating, Just like cricket, food is a theme that is celebrated all over the world and some fantastic chefs coming to showcase their culinary talent.

"In the same way that cricket crosses borders, food is a theme celebrated so widely across the world and we’ve got some fantastic chefs coming for the weekend to showcase their culinary talent," said the chef.
