While the cricketing fraternity have fixated its attention on the T20 World Cup in Australia, RPSG group has announced the appointment of Gautam Gambhir as the global mentor for their cricketing operations. The former Indian opener had been part of the Lucknow Super Giants as a mentor for the 2022 IPL season.

An aggressive opener in his heydays, Gambhir is passionate about his new role and seeks to bring his intensity to the pitch through his players. He expressed his joy in association with a foreign team, providing him with a global stage.

"In my ideology of a team sport designations don't play much role. At best they are there to facilitate a process to make the team win. As a Global mentor of Super Giants, I look forward to some added responsibility. My intensity and passion for winning have just got International wings. It will be a proud moment to see the Super Giants family leave a global imprint. I thank the Super Giants family for showing that faith in me. Guess it's time for some more sleepless nights," Gautam Gambhir, Global Mentor of Lucknow Super Giants, and Durban's Super Giants said in an official release.

Gambhir promises to deliver world-class matches at Yamuna Sports Complex

Gautam Gambhir, who was a critical part of the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 World Cup-winning Indian team, will now mentor RPSG's newly acquired T20 team in South Africa - Durban's Super Giants. Gambhir guided LSG to the knockout stages of IPL in their inaugural campaign and hopes to make a similar impact with the Durban outfit.

The former Indian opener was recently seen in action in the second edition of the Legends League Cricket, where he lead India Capitals to glory, thumping Bhilwara Kings in the final to lift their maiden trophy. Earlier, the southpaw took to his Twitter handle and released images of the Yamuna Sports Complex, a sporting complex he helped build, and captioned the post, "I promise to DELIVER! World-level players & matches at Yamuna Sports Complex."
