The MCC (Marylebone Cricket Club) has begun the search for its new chief executive after Guy Lavender has stepped down. The owner of the Lord's and the custodians of the laws of the game are going through a transitional period, with many changes being made in key roles.

Mark Nicholas will become the club’s chairman in October 2024, replacing Bruce Carnegie-Brown. Mervyn King will be replacing Nicholas as president. Furthermore, earlier this year, Rob Lynch replaced Jamie Cox as director of cricket and operations.

The MCC recently released a statement confirming Lavender's depature as the chief executive. The club acknowledged his exceptional leadership at the MCC through the COVID pandemic, in the continuation of the redevelopment of the Lord’s Cricket Ground, and in organising big games, including the 2019 ODI World Cup in England.

It has been an immense honour and privilege to have been CEO: Lavender

After the announcement of his departure, Lavender also expressed his thoughts. He stated how thankful he is to have served as the CEO of the MCC, and he added that he is confident that his successors will do an equally good job.

"It has been an immense honour and privilege to have been CEO of this great club, I have every confidence that MCC will go from strength to strength. The committed, excellent and diligent staff across the club do a superb job in support of the membership and make the MCC the wonderful club it is,” Lavender was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

MCC also stated that they have already started the process for appointing Lavender’s replacement, which will be led by its nominations committee in the latter stages of 2024. They also revealed that Lavender will continue to fulfill his duties with the MCC to enable a smooth transition period before his departure.
