Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja has said that he will not go to watch Pakistan's opening encounter against India at the upcoming 2022 T20 World Cup. The former Pakistani cricketer stated that he does not have the temper to watch the arch-rivals play against each other as he often gets into a fight with other spectators.
To note, the Men in Green are slated to take on India in their first match of the competition to be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 23 (Sunday).
I am very emotionally attached and often get into fights with other people: Ramiz Raja
‘I will not go to see the first match of Pakistan because I do not have the temper to watch the match. I am very emotionally attached and that’s why I don’t go to the matches because I get into fights with people there. Many people asked me to watch the first match of the World Cup but I refused. I will watch the match sitting at home," Ramiz said in a discussion on Samaa TV.
The PCB chief also accepted the fact that Pakistan has some middle-order issues and they get stuck in crunch situations.
"I know there are a lot of problems in the middle order, and the team gets stuck at the big moments, but it's not a problem that can't be solved. Like other teams, Pakistan has a chance of winning the World Cup. They are going to Australia to win the trophy and not be runner-ups," Ramiz added.
Ramiz also drew out a comparison between the Indian and Pakistani fans stating that the latter group often criticizes their country's players even if they are doing well.
"I'll tell you when Virat Kohli scored a century against Afghanistan, they forgot their entire Asia Cup. Will we ever do that? What we say is that Babar Azam scored a ton, but his strike rate was 135 while David Warner's was 147.3. So this is useless," he said.
