The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the acquisition of David Saker and Michael Hussey for coaching roles in the English white-ball setup during England’s T20 World Cup campaign in Australia this winter. Saker and Hussey have been appointed as coaching consultants for the men’s white-ball head coach, Matthew Mott.

David Saker, who was England men's bowling coach from 2010 to 2015, boasts of a top-level coaching CV, as he followed his stint with the English national team by working in the Big Bash League, the Australian men’s setup from 2016 to 2019 and then roles with the USA and Sri Lanka national teams. He will join the coaching staff ahead of England's seven-match T20I series against hosts Pakistan.

Michael Hussey's assistance can be an asset on Australian tracks

Meanwhile, former Australian cricketer Michael Hussey will be joining the white-ball setup for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia. The southpaw has worked as a batting coach for the Aussie side during the 2016 T20 World Cup and was appointed the batting coach of the IPL side Chennai Super Kings in 2018. Nickname 'Mr. Cricket', Hussey also served as the Director of Cricket for the Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League post his retirement from international cricket in 2013.

Earlier, the ECB's managing director of men's cricket, Rob Key expressed his gratitude to the PCB and other authorities for their assistance with the planning of the Pakistan tour. He is looking forward to the seven-match T20I series, which will be followed by a Test series post the T20 World Cup in the subcontinent nation.

"We have been liaising closely with the PCB over arrangements for this visit and the Tests later in the year, and will continue to work closely with the PCB, British High Commission, and other relevant authorities as we continue to prepare for these tours. We would like to thank the PCB and the city authorities for all their ongoing assistance with planning for the tours, including hosting the recent pre-tour planning visit by ECB representatives and the PCA CEO," Rob Key said.
