Mongolia, in a rather underwhelming performance, were bowled out for just 15 runs in a T20I game against Indonesia. This came in return for a target of 188 posted by the Indonesian women's side in the ongoing Hangzhou Asian Games, 2022. Interestingly, this is not the lowest team total posted by a team in an international game.
None of the batters were able to cross the double-digit mark. Additionally, seven out of eleven batters were dismissed for a duck. For Indonesia, Andriani Andriani was the pick of the bowlers, as she picked four wickets while giving away just eight runs in her four overs.
Speaking of the match, Mongolia skipper Tsendsuren Ariuntsetseg won the toss and opted to bowl first at Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field. However, the decision went terribly wrong, as Indonesian batters put up a brilliant display of batting. Their openers, Ni Putu Ayu Nanda Sakarini and Ni Luh Dewi put up a 106-run stand for the first wicket. After the fall of the first wicket, Dewi continued her innings to end up with 62 off just 48 balls before being bowled out of a ripper by Battsetseg Namuunzul.
In the end, Indonesia posted a total of 187 runs for the loss of four wickets and thus were riding high on confidence. In terms of bowling, Mendbayaar Enkhzul, Mendbayaar Enkhzul, Jargalsaikhan Erdenesuvd, and Gansuk Anujin took one wicket apiece, while Tsendsuren Ariuntsetseg and Battsogt Narangerel went wicketless.
When it came to the chase, Mongolia got off to the worst possible start, as they lost half their side when the scoreboard read just eight runs in the eighth over. By the end of the tenth over, the side was bundled out completely, as the team total was 15.
Interestingly, this was the first-ever outing of the Mongolian cricket team at an international stage. Hence, such a performance would have definitely disappointed them, but they would look to come back stronger in forthcoming fixtures to have themselves a chance in the continental tournament.
