Nepal cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane announces his surrender, ready to face rape charges

Former captain of the Nepal cricket team and suspended cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane is ready to face the rape allegations leveled against him. Lamichhane has admitted to surrendering to the authorities upon his arrival in Nepal on October 6. He broke the news to the fans via a Facebook post.

Sandeep Lamichhane has been termed a fugitive at large by the Kathmandu District Court after he was accused of raping a minor. The Court issued an arrest warrant against the cricketer, whose whereabouts are a mystery to the authorities since the accusations. The INTERPOL (International Criminal Police Organization) issued a diffusion notice against his name after the request of the Nepal police on the 26th of September.

Lamichhane pleaded his innocence to the fans in a Facebook post, announcing his surrender to the police after he arrives in the country on the October 6. He stated that he is ready to commence a legal battle against the false allegations leveled against him.

"With great hope and strength, I hereby confirm that I am reaching to my home country Nepal on this 6th October 2022 and will submit myself to the authority of Nepal to fight a legal battle against false allegation," Lamichhane wrote on his verified Facebook page.

The former captain of the Nepal Cricket team reiterated his non-involvement in the case and reassured the fans of his innocence. He revealed his faith in the judiciary and hopes for a swift decision in the case against the false allegations of the heinous crime.

"My dear well-wishers, I assure you all that I am innocent and I have not wronged you. I have recovered from the unpleasant situation I went through and I have prepared myself to go through this ordeal to prove myself innocent and a victim of a conspiracy. I am sure all wrongful allegations charged against me will be unfolded in the span of time."

"I hereby reiterate that I am INNOCENT and I have complete non-shaken faith in the justice system. I firmly believe in all the law enforcement authorities and honourable courts for their fair trial and adjudication and am just hopeful to get justice at the earliest," said Lamichhane.
