Match 5 of the Asia Cup 2023 will feature a clash between India and Nepal at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy on Monday, September 4. Nepal would be coming into the game on the back of a hefty defeat against Babar Azam-led Pakistan.
Nepal faced Pakistan in the season opener of the Asia Cup 2023, but they eventually succumbed to a 238-run loss as Pakistan overpowered them throughout the game. On the other hand, team India took on Pakistan in their first game of the tournament as well.
Both sides were involved in a grueling battle, but as rain played spoilsport, the match was eventually abandoned as both sides shared a point. India will now shift their focus towards their clash against Nepal and hope to register a win. On the other end of the spectrum, Nepal has been training hard to take on Rohit Sharma-led India.
Skipper Rohit Paudel recently came forward to reflect on the tactics that could be put to use against India. Paudel also opined that Nepal has made plans to take on the Indian team.
"We are excited to play against India. India is a big country. We are all excited to represent Nepal against India on the biggest stage. Virat and Rohit have been the stars for their country for over ten years," Rohit Paudel was quoted as saying by India Today.
"We have made plans to tackle them, and hopefully we will execute them tomorrow. On the field, it will be a game that both of us will be wanting to win," he added.
Furthermore, Paudel also heaped massive praise on ace Indian batter Virat Kohli. Opining that the 34-year-old is an inspiration to the entire side and that his discipline is something that every player hopes to achieve
"Virat is an inspiration for all of us, not only for his work ethic but also his discipline, on and off the field," said Paudel.
