The three-match ODI series between New Zealand and India will start on Friday, November 25, and Eden Park in Auckland will be hosting the first game. After winning the T20I series, the Men in Blue would be eyeing to continue their momentum and shift their focus to winning the ODI series. While the Blackcaps will be led by their regular skipper Kane Williamson, India will be under Shikhar Dhawan’s leadership.
Many players, who were a part of the T20I setup, will continue for the ODIs as well, while a few have returned back home. The weather has played a spoilsport in India’s tour so far, and the players will thus be wanting for the sky to remain clear and the rains to stay away. The first match of the T20I series was abandoned, and the third and final T20I was also washed-out mid-way leading to the game ending in a tie.
Players like Sanju Samson and Umran Malik, who could not find themselves a place in the T20I lineup will be looking forward to getting some game time in the ODI series. India’s batting unit is strong with big names like Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, and Rishabh Pant apart from the skipper himself. New Zealand too has a strong lineup and the Blackcaps will be looking to start the ODI series on a high note.
No chances of rain in the first game
Though there will be rain in the morning, the weather will be bright and sunny during the day, when the match is scheduled. There are no signs of rain post-11 AM, and with the match being scheduled at 2:30 PM local time, a full 100-over game is anticipated. As per India’s timings, the match will commence at 7:00 AM in the morning.
The humidity will be around 62%, while the chances of precipitation will be 20%. The temperature during the start of the game will be 18 degrees Celsius and will drop to 15 degrees Celsius by the time the contest ends. Eden Park is frequently a batter-friendly surface, making it difficult for pacers to have an impact. But as the game continues, the pitch frequently slows down, and the spinners can have a greater impact later on.
