Chennai Super Kings made history as they defeated the Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans in the final of the IPL 2023. Both sides took each other on at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday, May 29, in the summit clash.

The match went down to the wire after Chennai got a revised DLS target of 171 runs to chase down in 15 overs. However, through a valiant batting performance, Chennai defeated Gujarat by five wickets and won the IPL 2023.

Despite MS Dhoni getting dismissed for a golden duck during the run chase, the 41-year-old was undoubtedly influential in Chennai’s campaign throughout the tournament. Under his leadership, Chennai have now won the title five times (2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, 2023).

Furthermore, noted industrialist and India Cements Vice Chairman N Srinivasan was of a similar opinion. It is also worth noting that India Cements Ltd is the principal sponsor of Chennai Super Kings, and Srinivasan recently came forward to heap massive praise on Chennai skipper MS Dhoni.

"Fantastic captain. You have done a miracle. Only you can do it. We are proud of the boys and the team; this season has been one where the fans have demonstrated how much they love MS Dhoni. So do we," N Srinivasan was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

MS Dhoni likely to play IPL 2024

After the game, every fan only had one thing on their mind: whether or not skipper MS Dhoni would be calling it quits? Having won his fifth IPL title and reaching the pinnacle of success in both international and franchise cricket, MS Dhoni had already solidified himself as one of the greatest players in the history of the tournament.

However, following the title triumph, MS Dhoni  revealed that he would be participating in the IPL 2024, if his body allows him to, as a ‘gift’ for his fans. He stated that he would try to be at his best for the tournament.
