Pakistan Cricket Team is undergoing a fitness camp at Army School of Physical Training (ASPT) Kakul, Abbottabad with the Pakistan Army to prepare themselves for the upcoming packed T20 season. A total of 29 players are undergoing rigorous physical training including stars such as Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Amir, and Shadab Khan among others.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared a glimpse of players’ fitness drills with the fans on Monday, April 01 as they put in the hard yards to prepare themselves for the action-packed season including the T20 World Cup 2024. Notably, the team was divided into two groups and each group took part in traditional gym sessions and outdoor training drills.

Meanwhile, ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024, PCB has announced a major change in their leadership by re-appointing star batter Babar Azam as their skipper. Notably, Babar stepped down from captaincy of three formats after Pakistan failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the ODI World Cup 2023.

Pakistan lost 1-4 against NZ under Shaheen Afridi's captaincy

Following his resignation, the board appointed Shan Masood as their new Test skipper while fast bowler Shaheen Afridi was handed over the leadership duties in T20Is. However, Afridi didn’t have a memorable outing in his first series as skipper as Pakistan faced a crushing 1-4 defeat against New Zealand in the five-match series in January 2024.

After the series, there was a change in PCB administration as well with Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi being appointed as the new chairman in February after interim chief Zaka Ashraf stepped down in January. Meanwhile, Babar’s re-appointment as skipper hasn’t gone down well with legendary Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi who felt Mohammad Rizwan was a better choice. According to reports, Shaheen also isn’t too happy with PCB’s decision which forced the board to have an emergency meeting with the speedster.
