Legendary all-rounder Madan Lal has criticized Team India after their 0-2 ODI series defeat against Bangladesh saying that the passion in players to play for the country is missing badly. At the same time, he also made it clear that the Indian team is not heading in the right direction and there has been no intensity in the team lately.

The Men in Blue have now suffered a second consecutive ODI series loss on Bangladesh soil. The first one happened to be in June 2015 under the leadership of MS Dhoni where they went down 1-2 in the three-match series.

Definitely, the Indian team is not going in the right direction: Madan Lal

"Definitely the Indian team is not going in the right direction. I have not seen the intensity in the team off late. I have not seen 'Josh' in them in the last couple of years," said Madan Lal as quoted as saying by India Today.

"They are not looking like an Indian team at all. That passion of playing for the country is missing. Either their bodies are too tired or they are just going through the motions. And this is a serious concern,” he added.

At the same time, Lal also mentioned that if the players do wish to take rest, then they should do that during the IPL season. Furthermore, the 1983 World Cup winner added that if the Indian team does not win ICC trophies, then the nation’s cricket will go down.

"If they want to take rest they can take rest during IPL matches. Your country comes first. If you are not going to win ICC trophies, your nation's cricket is going to go down."

Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly said that there would be a review meeting of the Indian team after the recent ODI series loss. India and Bangladesh would now lock horns in the dead-rubber third ODI at Chattogram on Saturday, December 10. The visitors find themselves in a spot of bother as skipper Rohit Sharma, pacer Kuldeep Sen and bowling all-rounder Deepak Chahar have been ruled out due to repective injuries.
