Pakistan Cricket Board had sent a bunch of cricketers from the national team to Kakul to train with the Pakistan Army. Now that the training has been completed, the national selection committee summoned the cricketers for a meeting. The cricketers and the committee indulged in a meeting at a local hotel in Islamabad.

A total of 29 players underwent training with the Army, and the glimpses of the drills are doing rounds on social media platforms. While all other players attended the meet, wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan gave it a miss. The 31-year-old is currently performing Umrah with his family in Saudi Arabia.

The agenda of the meeting was to take players in confidence concerning the committee’s decision on selection policies. Having said that, the rotational policy and providing ample opportunities to young players was also on the list. The national selection committee members present at the meeting were Abdul Razzaq, Asad Shafiq, Bilal Afzal, Hasan Cheema, Mohammad Yousuf, and Wahab Riaz. Usman Wahla – Director of International Cricket Operations also attended the meeting.

Pakistan squad for New Zealand series to be announced on Tuesday

New Zealand will be travelling to Pakistan for a five-match T20I series. The series is slated to commence on April 18 at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi. However, the Kiwis will be touching down in Pakistan on April 14. As the crucial series beckons, the Selection Committee is set to announce the squad for the T20I fixtures on Tuesday, April 09 in Lahore.

Before the impending ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Pakistan will travel to Ireland and England for the T20I series. The tour will be important for the Men in Green to get substantial preparations before they board the flight for the West Indies and the USA. For the unversed, the PCB has restored Babar Azam as Pakistan’s white-ball captain, side lining Shaheen Afridi who served as captain when the team toured New Zealand.
