PCB to organise specialised camps for players ahead of Sri Lanka tour

Pakistan men’s national selection committee has invited players to undergo specialised camps at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore to develop a core ahead of the action-packed season. A total of 13 spinners, 11 fast bowlers and 14 batters will be involved in the two camps from June 10-15 (for spinners) and June 16-21 (for fast bowlers).
Players from Pakistan men’s, Shaheens and U19 sides will be training under the guidance of coaches from the national team and NCA. The camps are being organized to help the selectors form the best possible squad for the upcoming two-match Test series in Sri Lanka in July. Notably, the series will be Pakistan’s first assignment in the third cycle of the World Test Championship.
According to a report in Cricket Pakistan, separate camps for spin and fast bowlers have been set up to help them to bowl longer spells in specially tailored sessions, designed to enhance their skills and also test their fitness under tough conditions. Likewise, the batters will also be made to bat for long periods.
Players from different levels have been brought together to inculcate ‘The Pakistan Way’ in the upcoming players and make them aware of the expectations of the national side as they strive hard to represent Pakistan at the highest level The camp will also help the youngsters to benefit from the experience of senior players.
Players participating in County cricket or other leagues with the ‘No-Objection Certificates will continue to feature in them. Mohammad Nawaz (rehabilitation for finger injury), Sarfaraz Ahmed (personal commitments), Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan (both are travelling for Hajj) have been exempted from the camp.
