Youngster Prithvi Shaw has finally arrived in the United Kingdom to start preparing for his debut county stint. Notably, there were some logistical delays as the cricketer faced a lot of issues, but ultimately, the problem got solved as he is set to play his first game for Northamptonshire on Friday, August 4, against Gloucestershire in Cheltenham.

Ray Payne, the Chief Executive of Northamptonshire County Cricket Club (NCCC), has already confirmed the development on Sunday and stated that an official announcement will follow on Monday.

“I am delighted to say Prithvi arrived in the UK today (Sunday) and will feature in our one-day cup starting Friday, August 4. The official announcement (will come) tomorrow (Monday),” Payne told Cricbuzz.

Notably, Shaw secured NOC to skip Deodhar Trophy from BCCI to feature in the One-Day Cup in the UK, but his continuous absence raised concerns. There were no proper updates regarding his delay, but as per reports, the Mumbai-born cricketer has gone through a lot of hassle to get everything done in order to reach as quickly as possible.

Meanwhile, in order to get back into the national side, Shaw will have to perform extremely well in the tournament. He is currently out of the scheme of things, and that’s something that the cricketer hasn’t taken well as he has previously posted cryptic messages on Instagram on selection days. Thus, if he manages to put up a show in the One-Day Cup, the cricketer may once again get back into the Rohit Sharma-led side.

Interestingly, the 23-year-old will be among a few Indian cricketers to sign for a county club this year. Cheteshwar Pujara was sensational for Surrey in the County Championship Division II, while Arshdeep Singh and Navdeep Saini too had impressive moments. Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane was supposed to feature for Leicestershire in the same tournament, but the cricketer pulled out to manage his workload.

Shaw has played 53 List-A games so far in his career and has scored 2627 runs in the process.
