After struggling to score runs in the first two T20Is, the flamboyant batter Rahul Tripathi was at his very best in the third T20I against New Zealand in Ahmedabad, scoring 44 off just 22 deliveries. Although India lost a quick wicket in the form of Ishan Kishan, Rahul didn’t shy to play his natural game and eventually got the result of his aggressive batting. Not only did he manage to entertain the fans in the stadium, but the former India coach Sanjay Bangar was also thrilled to see him bat in that fashion.

While talking about Tripathi after the match, Bangar mentioned that one cannot praise Tripathi enough for his cracking knock in the third T20I. He said that the 31-year-old is completely justifying the role that the team management has given to him.

“It was an unfortunate way to get out. Rahul Tripathi knew that he was playing an amazing knock and was in an exceptional rhythm as well but got out unfortunately. It would be less however much you might praise him. He is fully justifying the role the Indian team have given to him," said Bangar while talking to Star Sports.

"If you see where he scored his runs, he hit a six over the fine leg fielder and hit three fours as well when the short fine leg was placed. He probably sat down beforehand itself to find that area. If he had played the pull shot, it might have gone between the square leg and mid-wicket fielder,” he added.

Not just Tripathi, but all the other Indian batters played in a similar fashion as India posted 234 runs on board after 20 overs. Youngster Shubman Gill once again delivered with the bat, scoring his maiden T20I century, whiel with the ball, the Hardik Pandya-led side wreak havoc as the team bundled New Zealand for only 66 runs.
