Ravindra Jadeja etched his name into Test cricket history on August 17, 2026, becoming only the fourth all-rounder to complete the double of 4,000 runs and 350 wickets in the format. The milestone arrived during India's tour of Sri Lanka, at the Galle International Stadium, where Jadeja dismissed Keshara Nuwantha to claim his 350th Test wicket.
He now stands alongside Ian Botham, Kapil Dev and Daniel Vettori in this exclusive group. Jadeja has arrived at this milestone having played fewer Tests than any of the three players he has joined. Not only that, Jadeja is also the quickest to reach the double while also being the only player to get there with fewer than 100 Tests played.
Earlier on the same day, Jadeja had also removed Dhananjaya de Silva, making it a productive outing with the ball. His contribution with the bat in India's innings was a modest 13 runs, but the day belonged firmly to his bowling achievement.
The landmark also confirms Jadeja as only the fifth Indian bowler to reach 350 Test wickets. He is only the second Indian cricketer to combine 350 wickets with more than 4,000 runs in the format, a distinction that Kapil Dev had held alone until this moment.
How does Jadeja compare with the other three all-rounders in this group?
Each of the three players Jadeja has joined in this group finished their Test careers with substantial combined figures. Kapil Dev accumulated 5,248 runs and 434 wickets across 131 matches. Ian Botham ended his career with 5,200 runs and 383 wickets. Daniel Vettori concluded his red-ball career with 4,531 runs and 362 wickets in 113 matches.
What distinguishes Jadeja from all three is the pace at which he has reached this point. Among the four all-rounders to have achieved this double, he is the only one to have done so in fewer than 100 Test matches. That rate of accumulation across both disciplines underlines how consistently he has contributed at the highest level over a sustained period.
