Star England batter Jos Buttler could miss the entirety of The Hundred due to injuries, according to reports. The ace batter was set to lead Manchester Originals' men's team this season. However, a report by ESPNcricinfo stated that the wicketkeeper-batter could miss the entire season after undergoing medical scans following a calf injury he suffered in preparation for the tournament.
Buttler has led Originals in every season of The Hundred so far, with the side reaching the summit clash of the tournament in 2022 and 2023 but lost out to the Trent Rockets and Oval Invincibles, respectively.
The English cricketer was also in brilliant form for Originals in 2023, leading the competition for runs scored, with 391. With The Hundred taking place from July 23 to August 18, and Buttler's injury expected to take six weeks to recover, it rules him out for about the entirety of the tournament. The report also stated that Buttler is also doubtful for the three-match T20I series against Australia, scheduled to begin on September 11.

It is worth noting that calf injuries have been quite common throughout Buttler's career. In 2021, he was ruled out of a bilateral series against Sri Lanka due to one, returning only a month later.
In 2022, he suffered through another calf injury during The Hundred, which ruled him out of the tournament, and even put his participation in the T20 World Cup that year at risk. His absence for Manchester Originals could prove to leave a gaping hole in the side's lineup.

Buttler, who has been an integral part of the squad, for quite a few years now, is expected to miss the entire season and the task to replace him could prove to be quite daunting for the side.
