With England winning their one-off Test against Ireland earlier this month and looking well set and prepared for the upcoming Ashes, they have recently received a blow with their frontline spinner Jack Leach being ruled out of the action for quite some time now. Leach has suffered a back stress fracture which has ruled him out of action for a considerable time.

In the same line of events, veteran England all-rounder Moeen Ali has reportedly been asked about his availability post the 31-year-old’s injury.  Ali has certainly been an asset for the England team in the home condition as the sublime all-rounder has registered astonishing numbers in the 35 matches that he has played for his national side in the whites. The premier all-rounder is perhaps best suited with his aggressive attitude in batting and lethal spin bowling.

Despite the England team having multiple substitutes for the left-arm bowler in the form of Liam Livingstone, Will Jacks, and Rehan Ahmed but the availability of Ali will certainly be a big boost for the number three ranked side in Test. Citing this, England Board have even inquired about Ali's availability as per reported by Sky Sports.

The batting all-rounder has never participated in the new system established by Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes because of his thoughts on retirement from Test cricket. The 35-year-old even played a significant role in the England team's victory at the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, and he will undoubtedly be looking to do the same as the English team will look to defend their ODI World Cup crown later this year.

Ali recently won the IPL 2023 title with the Chennai Super Kings

Over the years, Ali, who now serves as vice-captain of the England national team, has developed into a much more dependable performer in the shorter formats. The veteran England all-rounder was also part of the Chennai Super Kings' historic title win in the recently concluded IPL 2023. Ali chipped in at important junctures of the game throughout the tournament both with the bat as well as the ball. England will lock horns with Australia and kickstart the Ashes from June 16.
