Ever since the unceremonious transfer of captaincy from Rohit Sharma to Hardik Pandya who had been roped in by the Mumbai Indians management ahead of the 2024 edition from the Gujarat Titans, there were reports doing the rounds regarding Rohit being discontent with the management regarding the decision. It was thus suspected that he, along with Suryakumar Yadav, may shift base to another franchise.
Despite there being no progress or concrete updates on the conjectures around the former skipper of the joint-most successful franchise in the cash-rich league, there has been some sort of indication as to the whereabouts of Suryakumar as far as the 18th edition of the IPL is concerned.
“No, he won’t leave. Just people speculating on social media to get engagement,” an MI source told Sports Tak, as quoted by OneCricket.
There were rumours spreading around which alleged the Kolkata Knight Riders, Suryakumar's franchise from 2014 to 2017, were keen on having the current captain of the Indian T20I setup to be back in their setup as the leader.

Official news is still awaited on the same, but if the reports turn out to be a reality, there would be no one happier than the ardent supporters of MI who would be absolutely delighted for Mr. 360° to stay put at the franchise and ignite the Wankhede with more of his fireworks.
Talking about Suryakumar's performances in the past few seasons for MI, he registered a 605-run season in 2023 which included his highest score in the IPL of 103* at a scorching strike rate of 181.14.
His most-recent edition was not that productive for him, and even less rewarding for MI, as they had to settle for a rock-bottom finish in an extremely docile campaign.
