Rishabh Pant's MRI scan results of the brain and spinal cord have returned a normal result. The 25-year-old has also undergone plastic surgery for facial injuries he suffered in a horrific car accident in the early hours of December 30.

The star Indian wicketkeeper-batter met with an accident on the Delhi-Haridwar highway around 5:30 AM on Friday. He was driving alone and suffered various injuries while his car caught fire after the collision.

Pant was quickly rushed to a local hospital before being shifted to Dehradun for further treatment. A few hours after the incident, officials confirmed that he suffered some burns and bruises but is out of mortal danger.

"The results of Rishabh Pant's MRI of the brain and spinal cord has returned as 'normal'. He has also undergone plastic surgery intervention for facial injuries, lacerated wounds and abrasions. Pant will have an MRI on his ankle and knee tomorrow. MRI scans of his ankle and knee have been postponed till tomorrow because of pain and swelling," ESPNcricinfo reported.

He has also sustained abrasions on his right-hand forearm, lacerated wounds over his forehead and near the eyebrow, and multiple abrasions on the back as well. But according to a medical bulletin released by the hospital, the player is "stable, conscious, and oriented".

Meanwhile, the doctors at Max Hospital in Dehradun have given Pant "above knee splintage ... for suspected right knee ligament injury, and suspected right ankle ligament injury".

Pant is not part of India's T20I and ODI squad for the upcoming home white-ball series against Sri Lanka and was due to travel to Bangalore for strength and conditioning at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

Pant was last seen against Bangaldesh in the two-match away Test series that India clinched 2-0. Pant was the one of the chief architects of the team's win in the second Test in Mirpur with his 93-run knock.
