Team India skipper Rohit Sharma has mentioned that the team management along with him is working on managing the workload of the fast bowlers ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in February. Rohit Sharma and Co. will engage in a four-match red-ball series against fierce rivals Australia scheduled to begin on February 9.

The Men in Blue have clinched the ongoing ODI series against New Zealand as they emerged victorious in the second contest in Raipur on Saturday, January 21. Courtesy of a terrific bowling display from team India, the visitors were sent packing for a mere 108 runs which made life easier for the Indian batters to chase the total and thereby take an unassailable lead in the series.

With crucial fixtures lined up ahead, Rohit stressed on the importance of drawing the line in order to take care of the bowlers.

"They (the fast bowlers) were quite happy to go on but I told them, boss, there's a Test series coming up, so they have to look after themselves. I have to step in and draw the line to say there are other bowlers as well. Magnificent from them (the bowlers),” told Rohit after the win in the second ODI.

They've done whatever is asked of them: Rohit Sharma

It is worth mentioning that the bowling unit has produced some sensational results lately be it the series win against Sri Lanka or the ongoing series with New Zealand. Rohit further lauded the efforts put in by the bowlers and added that he was delighted to see their hard work being rewarded.

"I thought the bowlers have really stepped in the last five games. They've done whatever is asked of them. Especially seeing such performances in India to nip the ball around, it's great to see. To see them being rewarded for the hard work is good,” added Rohit.

India will aim to conclude the three-match ODI series with a whitewash as they did against Sri Lanka previously. Following the conclusion of the ODI and T20I series, the home side will shift their focus onto the all-important Australia series.
