Talking Points from CT vs DUR, SA20 Match 5:

Kyle Mayers shines with all-round performance:

While Heinrich Kaasen and Keemo Paul stole the limelight with big shots, it was Kyle Mayers who won the Player of the Match award for an impressive all-round performance. The Caribbean all-rounder bowled Brevis for a duck and conceded only ten runs in two overs. Then while chasing a target, he scored 34 runs off 23 to ensure a good start for the Super Giants.

Olly Stone's 4/28 spell in vein for MI Cape Town:

The English pacer continued his good start in SA20 2023 with four big wickets against the Super Giants. He took two wickets against the Paarl Royals in the opening match and but didn't get a support from his teammates while defining 152 runs agains the Super Giants. Stone conceded only 28 runs at an economy rate of 8.

Losing Captain, Rashid Khan said:

We played good cricket in the last part of the first innings. 20-25 runs would have made a difference. The way the guys bowled, it was amazing. Was a great game of cricket. We shouldn't make the same mistakes. It becomes easier for the batsmen in the second innings. But if we can post around 170, we have quality bowlers. It's early in the competition and we'll come back stronger. So good to have him (Olly Stone) and he has been amazing for us.

Winning Captain, Quinton de Kock said:

It was a great win, we needed that. I have played here quite a bit in previous tournaments. It's a matter of going out there and doing the job. I think the wickets will be a little bit slower and will come on a bit better (in the night). We sacrificed a couple of wickets, so we made sure of the win afterwards. Klaasen has been around a long time and in the end, we had to settle for just the win.

Player of the Match, Kyle Mayers said:

It was a good feeling to get the team across the finish line. (On the delivery to bowl Brevis) That is something I practice. My team always backs me to pick up a wicket in the first over and when a plan comes together, it feels good. I have a bit of skill and I try to show it every now and then. (Contest with Archer) Last time I batted against him in a match was probably in school. First time I batted against him since he has started playing for England. I really enjoyed the first game in Durban and it is really good for South African cricket (that fans are turning up).
