Sunrisers Eastern Cape put forth a magnificent performance in the summit clash of the SA20 2024 against Durban’s Super Giants. Both sides faced off in the final of the tournament at the Newlands in Cape Town on Saturday, February 10, and the Aiden Markram-led Sunrisers performed exceptionally well to clinch yet another SA20 title.
After the win, the CEO of the franchise, Kavya Maran, could not hold her excitement and was ecstatic after Sunrisers clinched the title for the second time in a row. Maran opined that she was glad and hailed heavy praise on the side for their performance.
“Second cup, back-to-back, two in a row, so glad and happy, I mean the best performance by the team with the bat and the ball, and I think we have been dominating this whole season and to finally get this through the end of the year, unbelievable to be winning it back-to-back, so happy for the guys and everyone has been putting in a great show and a very strong team that we played against today but happy to get the win at the end of the day,” Kavya Maran said after the match.
It's a great feeling: Aiden Markram
After the win, Sunrisers’ skipper Aiden Markram came forward to express his feelings as well. It is worth noting that Markram stayed unbeaten on a score of 42 runs in 26 deliveries, helping his side post a big total on the board, and eventually leading them to yet another title win.
"It's a great feeling; to be in the final was a proud moment, and to rock up here and play that game of cricket was a testament to where we're going as a team. The competition is tough, every game you have to be at your best, nice to have got some momentum and carry that through, but today was a fresh start and luckily we put together a good performance. The bowlers were the shining light and the batters got us over the line. Incredibly proud of this group,” Markram was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
