SA20 Auction: Johannesburg Super Kings full squad and Players List for the inaugural season

The inaugural edition of the SA20 is all set to commence in January next year, and the franchises have bolstered their squad in the recently concluded auction on Monday, 19th of September. Johannesburg Super Kings, owned by Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited (CSKCL), which owns the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL), made shrewd signings in the auction, presenting a commanding outlook to their squad.

The franchise turned a few heads by acquiring the service of uncapped South African wicketkeeper-batter Donavon Ferreira for a whopping Rand 5.5 million. The Super Kings were involved in a bidding war for the 24-year-old with the Paarl Royals and Pretoria Capitals but eventually managed to get hold of the highly rated batter. Ferreira has played 19 T20 matches so far, scoring 384 runs at an average of 54.85 and a strike rate of 148.26.

Harry Brook was another young batter who was prized by the Super Kings. The talented Englishman was added to the squad for Rand 2.10 million. Reeza Hendricks was the team's second-most expensive purchase at the auction, going for Rand 4.50 million. His international teammate Janneman Malan was picked up for Rand 2.70 million.

Talking about the overseas signings, the Johannesburg Super Kings made impressive picks by scalping the express West Indian pacer Alzarri Joseph for Rand 2.10 million. The team will be captained by the former CSK player, Faf du Plessis, while Stephen Fleming will don the coaching hat.
