Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif lavished massive praise on Chennai Super Kings’ skipper MS Dhoni after the latter got to his destructive best in mere two balls against Lucknow Super Giants. Dhoni hammered two maximums on the trot against ace pacer Mark Wood on Monday, April 3.

At the age of 41, the keeper-batter continues to take the crowd by storm with his towering sixes and his aggressive playing style. Meanwhile, Latif further extolled the CSK skipper, keeping him parallel with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar.

"Look at the way he (MS Dhoni) batted. He faced just 2-3 balls and showed what he has always been capable of. He is the most famous player. We have seen Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, even Virat Kohli. But Dhoni, and the way he conducts himself on the field and the following that he has, there is a different vibe and intensity to it altogether. Outstanding," Latif told on his YouTube channel.

He is easily the greatest ever Indian captain: Rashid Latif

His impressive cameo against KL Rahul’s Super Giants also led him to the milestone of 5000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Despite playing lower in the middle-order, Dhoni became the seventh player to cross the milestone with 5004 runs after the likes of Kohli (6706*), Shikhar Dhawan (6284*), David Warner (5974*), Rohit Sharma (5880), Suresh Raina (5528*) and AB de Villiers (5162).

Latif also heaped massive praise on the 41-year-old for getting his name in the record books and for his immense contribution to the Indian national team.

"He has scored 5000 runs in IPL alone. Dhoni has always had a golden template. His history has been written with gold - for India, for world cricket. You and I can say whatever we like but it won't make a difference. He is easily the greatest ever Indian captain, and also a wicketkeeper batter. There is no doubt there," he added.
