"Kohli is crucial for India in the T20 World Cup. The selectors can't think that IPL is a place for him to prove his quality. He was never out of the team for his form. He missed India matches because of family reasons. He has been in form for a long time. He will make runs in this IPL as well," Prasad told the official broadcasters of IPL, on Monday.

Notably, Kohli was awarded Player of the Tournament in the back-to-back editions of the T20 World Cup in 2014 (319 runs) and 2016 (273 runs). He also finished as the leading run-scorer of the previous edition of the tournament in Australia with 296 runs to his name. He also finished as the fourth-highest run scorer of the IPL 2023 with 639 runs to his name from 14 innings.
