In recent times, the Pakistan team has emerged as a force to reckon with in the white-ball format. The Men in Green have been in good touch, and they proved a point when they won all four games of their group stage at the T20 World Cup last year, defeating India, New Zealand, Scotland, Namibia, and Afghanistan, to enter the semi-finals in style.

The Indian Premier League has nurtured many players across the world and has helped them get in shape in the T20I format. There have been many players who have credited the IPL for their good form in the game while representing their respective countries. Though the Pakistan players do not participate in the IPL, Wasim Jaffer believes that if hypothetically they participate then a few players would go big at the auctions.

The former India cricketer, while speaking on BatBricks7 Presents Run Ki Runneeti show on CricTracker expressed his opinion and said:

“Shaheen Shah Afridi, without a doubt, can go for a huge sum at the IPL auctions. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan can also go big because they possess captaincy skills, wicketkeeping skills and the two can also bat in the top-order as dependable players. Shadab Khan can also get a hefty amount given how the teams look out for leg spinners in their squad. And Shadab Khan is also a very good batting option.”

There are a bunch of talented players in the Pakistani squad: Jaffer

Afridi has time and again proved to be a crucial component of Pakistan’s squads across all formats, alongside Babar and Rizwan. Jaffer believes that pacers who can consistently bowl at 145 kmph can also add a lot of value to the franchise, whichever team they play for, and that is what will get them high bids at the IPL auction.

“Fast bowlers like Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah, who can clock the ball to 145 kmph, can be an asset for the team in the death overs especially. There are a bunch of talented players in the Pakistani squad, to be honest, so I can not guess their highest bidding price but if the player adds value to the franchise, then I’m sure most of the teams would want them,” Jaffer added.
