After his brilliant innings of 49 runs off 41 deliveries against World Giants in the ongoing Legends League Cricket (LLC Masters), former India international Suresh Raina in the press conference was asked if he is willing to return to professional cricket after such a cracking innings.

Replying to the question, the 36-year-old took a harmless dig at Shahid Afridi and hilariously revealed that he has no such intentions like the former Pakistan skipper. Raina, in the post-match presser, stated that he has already taken his retirement from the game and unlike Shahid Afridi, he will not make his return but instead will stay committed to his decision.

“I'm Suresh Raina, not Shahid Afridi! I've taken the retirement,” Raina said as the entire room burst into laughter.

India Maharajas to play in the Eliminator

After losing three out of their four league matches, India Maharajas will now play in the Eliminators of the ongoing LLC Masters. In their last match against World Giants, Chris Gayle stole the show, scoring 57 off 46 deliveries as the bowlers looked pretty ordinary with the new ball.

Gayle gave his team a perfect start but the Giants stumbled in the middle overs. However, they eventually managed to defeat the Maharajas by three wickets and move to the top of the table. Next up, the Aaron Finch-led side will take on Asia Lions on March 16 as the winning team will qualify for the finals while the losing team will play against India Maharajas in the Eliminator.

Coming to the Maharajas, skipper Gautam Gambhir decided to give himself some rest as he did not feature against the Giants as Manvinder Bisla opened alongside Robin Uthappa. The duo could not do much damage as the entire responsibility fell on the middle order.

Notably, former Australia international Brett Lee picked up three wickets as the Maharajas posted only 136/9 on board after 20 overs. Thus, ahead of the all-important Eliminator, there is a lot of room for improvement for the Maharajas as they are yet to make a mark in the tournament.
