Shakib Al Hasan suffered a blow on his left index finger and had to leave India before Bangladesh’s final ODI World Cup game against Australia in Pune and has been suffering from blurred vision since then. After that, the star all-rounder joined politics and recently won the Magura seat in the assembly elections of Bangladesh. After this, he returned to the cricket field and is currently playing for Rangpur Riders in the ongoing BPL. However, Shakib is only bowling as he didn’t bat in the last two matches.

He is yet to gain full fitness, which might delay his return to the national team. Sri Lanka are slated to travel to Bangladesh for a three-match ODI and T20I series respectively, followed by a two-match Test series in March but Shakib isn’t sure if he’ll be able to make it to the series. The 36-year-old is yet to confirm his availability and stated that he will speak to the BCB officials before taking a call.

“Time will tell. We are still playing the tournament. I will speak to the officials, and then take the decision (about playing Sri Lanka or not),” Shakib was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

Meanwhile, Shakib is yet to decide on his ODI captaincy. Speaking about the same, the cricketer mentioned that he is yet to have a discussion with the management about this.

“I will take a decision in this regard (ODI captaincy) after talking with the board but we still have not discussed it,” he said.

I can't find the rhythm when there are no runs: Shakib

Shakib regretted not being able to provide his all-round skills for Rangpur in the ongoing season. The cricketer hasn’t batted and said that he can’t find his rhythm when there are no runs. Meanwhile, he has dismissed the possibility of retiring from cricket and is working hard for a strong comeback.

“The more I score runs, the more comfortable I will be. I can't find the rhythm when there are no runs. I have never done this in my life (like) just playing with one side. It is the first time and I feel for Rangpur Riders. I am only able to fulfil half of their expectations.

“I realized that when the time is bad, everything goes bad. I am not thinking about anything else (like quitting cricket) and now I am trying (to make a comeback) and let me finish my effort and later will think about it,” Shakib said.
