Team India skipper Rohit Sharma was recently a part of The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix. As part of his interview, Rohit revealed many hilarious stories from both his professional and personal lives. During the interview, host Kapil Sharma asked if any cricketer had requested Rohit not to hit any sixes on their deliveries as their girlfriends were in attendance.
However, the Indian skipper was quick to reply that while he has received such requests from cricketers, he has never listened to them as his wife, Ritika Sajdeh, is always in attendance.
“Yes, of course, we have had conversations like this but I tell them that, ‘While it's your girlfriend present at the stadium, I have my wife watching the match.' She sits with her fingers crossed during the whole match. So, she is more important for me,” Rohit Sharma said.
Furthermore, Kapil asked several questions to Ritika Sajdeh as well. The comedian asked if it is tougher to manage Rohit as a husband or a cricketer. “As a husband. As a captain, he has his team to manage him. I don't have to do anything,” Ritika answered.
Seeing her answer, Rohit came up with a hilarious one-liner, opining that his wife is the captain of the house. “She can't enter the field or the dressing room but I have to enter the house. She is the captain there,” Rohit said.
The team had maintained a good momentum: Sharma
Furthermore, Rohit Sharma talked about the Indian team’s ODI World Cup 2023 campaign. Reflecting on how the side performed brilliantly throughout the season in autopilot mode, a long partnership by Australia in the summit clash saw the World Cup slip out of the hosts’ grasp.
“Two days before the match, our team was in Ahmedabad and we did our practice. The team had maintained a good momentum. As if the team was on autopilot. When the match began, we started good. Shubman Gill got out quickly but then Virat Kohli and I had a partnership. We were confident we could achieve a good score. I feel that in big matches, if you are able to score runs and create pressure on the opposite team, it is good as any team can slip under pressure. But Australia played good cricket. We even managed to take three wickets for just around 40 runs but they had a long partnership after that," Rohit said.
