Australia and Pakistan are locking horns in Match 18 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Friday, October 20 at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and invited Australia to bat first. The invitation was happily accepted by openers David Warner and Mitchell Marsh as the duo put on a massive double hundred stand for the first wicket.

Warner got a life early in his innings as he was dropped by Usama Mir at mid-on during the fifth over of the innings. The opening batter made Pakistan regret it immediately as he unleashed his beast mode on their famed pace attack. One of Warner’s shots left everyone awestruck as he launched Haris Rauf for a massive six in the ninth over.

The southpaw put his flamboyance on display as he smashed Rauf over deep square leg launching the ball to the roof of the stadium.

Warner registers fourth consecutive ODI hundred vs Pakistan

Warner went on to score his 21st ODI hundred as he registered his fourth consecutive hundred against Pakistan in ODIs. The southpaw played a scintillating innings of 163 off 124 balls smashing 14 fours and nine sixes in his innings. He was well supported by Mitchell Marsh who also scored a magnificent hundred plundering 121 runs off 108 balls with the help of ten fours and nine sixes in his innings.

Warner and Marsh put on a massive 259-run stand off 203 balls for the first wicket as Australia posted a score of 367/9 in their allotted 50 overs. Shaheen Afridi was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan as he scalped 5/54 in ten overs.

In reply, Pakistan got off to a great start with openers Abdullah Shafique (64 off 61) and Imam-ul-Haq (70 off 71) 134 runs for the first wicket off 127 balls. However, they lost their way in the middle overs and were bundled out for 305 in 45.3 overs resulting in a 62-run win for Australia. Adam Zampa starred with the ball for the Kangaroos as he picked 4/53 in ten overs.
