India bounced back well after experiencing a shocking defeat against Zimbabwe in the first T20I at the Harare Sports Club. They went on to win the second T20I and subsequently won the third game on July 11. Shubman Gill is leading India for the first time and the young Indian team has shown resilience in the third game led by their captain's half-century and Washington Sundar’s three-for.
Sundar spoke at length about Gill's preparation and conduct and also lauded his ability to maintain a happy atmosphere on and off the field. He also added that Gill’s is always ready to work on his strengths. India are currently leading the series 2-1 with two matches to go.

“He's [Shubman Gill] been really, really good, honestly, because he has his own plans and he really is keen to work on his strengths and I mean, it's such a happy feeling to be playing under him because he's also led in the IPL. He led well and even here, you know, especially after the first tough game that we had, you know, the way we've come back as a team and the way he's helped all of us on the field and off the field with his leadership skills has been amazing,” Sundar told reporters.
Gaikwad scoring flurry of runs in Zimbabwe
Apart from Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad has also been in sound touch scoring the bulk of runs in the last two games. In the third T20I, he scored 49 off 28, laced with four boundaries and three maximums at a strike rate of 175. In the second T20I, the right-handed batter scored an unbeaten 77 off 47 deliveries as India won the game by a whopping 100 runs margin.
