Two new teams added in Abu Dhabi T10 League 2022

This year’s Abu Dhabi T10 League will witness two new entrants- New York Strikers, and Morrisville Samp Army. While the New York-based franchise will be led by the Caribbean power-hitter Kieron Pollard, Samp Army will be captained by the South African middle-order sensation David Miller.

Both teams have replaced the Qalandars and the 2019 champions Maratha Arabians. Thus, the 2022 edition will see eight teams compete for the undisputed prize in T10. The 12-day tournament consists of 33 matches with the knockouts and the final scheduled to be played on December 3 and 4. The Deccan Gladiators are the defending champions.

What makes the Abu Dhabi T10 2022 even more interesting is that it will witness the debut of veteran India middle-order batter Suresh Raina.  Raina has retired from the IPL and ended all contractual obligations with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) which has made him eligible to participate in this UAE-based franchise tournament.

Other eminent Indian names in this edition of the competition include the likes of veteran offie Harbhajan Singh, all-rounder Stuart Binny, pacers Abhimanyu Mithun, and, S Sreesanth.

In the last five editions, the Abu Dhabi T10 League has not found much success with regards to popularizing and marketing the T10 format despite signing in some of the well-known names in world cricket and with now roped in as the presenting partner, they would be hoping for a revival in fortunes going forward.
