In a day enjoyed by both sides in parts, India took six breakthroughs while Sri Lanka added 257 more to their overnight total as stumps were taken on Day 3 of the ongoing second Test at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo. The Lankans still trail by 238 runs, while the visitors need to pick a couple of wickets to wrap the innings up.

Right as Day 3 entered the final hour of play, rain arrived, prompting an early call of stumps. However, a lot of exciting cricketing action unfolded to keep the fans on their toes. Prasidh Krishna fired all guns blazing to get a couple of important wickets for the Indians early in the day, but Pasindu Sooriyabandara (80 off 133) launched a silent attack to account for the hosts' comeback before chopping on off a Ravindra Jadeja ball.

A couple of wickets fell post-Sooriyabandara's knock, but Sonal Dinusha's arrival at the crease meant that there was still a lot of fight left in the game for Sri Lanka. The left-hander carried his form from Galle right into Colombo, staging a few small but crucial partnerships with the lower order.

Top batting performance of the day: Sonal Dinusha

Sonal Dinusha seemed in complete control the moment he walked to the middle at number seven. Bringing on display his usual range of sweep shots, the left-hander navigated through the spin-heavy Indian attack and accumulated 85 off 137 deliveries. He will resume the Lankan innings on the penultimate day, with his eyes locked on to a second consecutive hundred.

Top bowling performance of the day: Prasidh Krishna

Prasidh Krishna, the tall and lanky pacer, seems to have revamped himself completely. On a turning deck in Colombo where spinners have been enjoying their time, Prasidh added two more wickets to his total, having already accounted for Lahiru Udara earlier. He drew the first blood of the morning for India, sending Kamil Mishara packing, and then got Kamindu Mendis trapped for a caught dismissal.
