South Africa’s tour of India 2025 begins with a much-anticipated two-match Test series at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

Ahead of the marquee clash, former India captain Sourav Ganguly highlighted the quality of the contest in this series, while India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj emphasised the importance of strong form and rhythm against defending champions South Africa.

With the new WTC cycle underway, India will aim to assert their home dominance while the world Test champions South Africa be looking to consolidate its run of form in the subcontinent.

Ganguly shared his thoughts on the upcoming India vs South Africa Test series, reckoning that it will be a “tough tour” for the visitors but also stating that he is expecting a “high-quality contest” between two robust teams.

“The first Test starts in Kolkata in a few days, and it’s going to be a tough tour for South Africa. Playing against India in India is never easy. India is a very strong side in the subcontinent, and they are a strong team even overseas these days. I’m really looking forward to the Test at Eden Gardens. South Africa is a good side, so it should be a high-quality contest,” Ganguly said while speaking on JioStar show 'Follow The Blues'.a

India pacer Mohammed Siraj also shared his thoughts, mentioning that the team is in high spirits after a successful tour of England, where they drew a tightly-fought five-match series 2-2, before trouncing West Indies 2-0 at home.

"This series is crucial for the new WTC cycle, especially since South Africa is the defending champion. While they drew 1-1 with Pakistan, we're confident from our own good form, we created a positive environment, performed well in England, and won against the West Indies. Personally, I'm bowling with good rhythm and looking to make the most of it. Facing strong teams helps identify areas to improve, and I'm really excited for this challenge."

India and South Africa will kickstart the all-format series at the Eden Gardens with the first Test from November 14 while the second encounter will be played in Guwahati from November 22. The series also comprises of three ODIs and five T20Is.
