Sri Lanka and India are all set to continue their ongoing three-game ODI series by facing off in the third and final ODI of the series. Both sides will lock horns at the R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on Wednesday, August 7. The first ODI series ended in a tie after resilient performances from both sides.
Furthermore, Sri Lanka managed to pull off a great effort against India, defeating the side in the second ODI to gain the lead in the series. As the third and final ODI approaches, the Rohit Sharma-led India will have only one aim in mind, and that is to not let Sri Lanka clinch the series.
With the third ODI around the corner, many fans have come forward and wondered how the weather would be in Colombo on the day of the clash, and according to Accuweather, there is a 42 percent chance of rain, with a probability of thunderstorms as well. The average temperature in the morning can be expected to be around 31 degrees Celsius, with it dropping to 28 degrees Celsius at night.
Pitch Report
The surface at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo is one that is known to assist the spinners. It is worth noting that in the first ODI, the spinners took 13 of the 18 wickets that fell, and the same could be expected in the final ODI of the series as well. Opting to bat first and making use of the slow pitch in the second innings could prove to be the wiser decision.
The average score on the pitch is around 170, and teams winning the toss have opted to bat first 82 percent of the time in the last five years in ODI matches in Colombo. The same could be the case when Sri Lanka and India take centre stage at the venue in the final ODI of the series.
