Sri Lanka’s women’s team recently came forward to announce a multi-format series against Bangladesh. The side will face Bangladesh for a three-match ODI series and a three-match T20I series. All the games will be played in Colombo, with the P. Sara Oval hosting the ODI games, whereas the SSC Ground will host the T20I series.

The ODI series will be played between April 29 and May 4, and the T20I series will be played between May 9 and May 12. Ahead of the start of the 50-over series, the visitors will arrive on April 25 and will be playing a warm-up against SLC Board President XI on April 27.

Sri Lanka last played a multi-format series against the Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian side. Where they took part in three T20I clashes, which were followed by three ODI games. Led by Chamari Athapaththu, Sri Lanka lost both the series against India, and the side will hope for a better result against Bangladesh.

Bangladesh currently sit in ninth place in the ICC Women's Championship table

Ahead of the multi-format series, Bangladesh will be keen on improving upon their performances and making their way up in the points table of the ICC Women's Championship. Led by Nigar Sultana, Bangladesh currently find themselves placed ninth in the women’s championship table with two points in three games.

On the other hand, Sri Lanka find themselves tied for seventh place with the West Indies with two points after six matches. Bangladesh played their last game at the Women’s T20 World Cup, where they were eliminated from the group stages of the tournament and finished last in their group with zero points in four games.

Being the visitors, Bangladesh will have a mountain to climb as they gear up to take on Sri Lanka in Colombo. The side will hope to see significant improvements in their performances in recent times, and it could be interesting to see how the Nigar Sultana-led side fares against Sri Lanka.
