After a long hiatus, Virat Kohli finally managed to break the unwanted century drought away from home by scoring a terrific ton against West Indies in the second Test of the series. Notably, it took the 34-year-old over four years to score his Test century on foreign soil.

On his road to the 76th international century, the cricketer broke multiple records as he became the first cricketer in history to score a ton in his 500th match. The Delhi-born batter also equalled Jacques Kallis’ (12) record of hitting the second most centuries against West Indies in across format.

Kohli surpassed legendary cricketer Brian Lara and now has the fourth most centuries at number four in the history of Test cricket. Only Sachin Tendulkar (44), Jacques Kallis (35) and Mahela Jayawardene (30) are ahead of him in the list.

However, Virat could not score big after scoring his century. Due to a miscommunication in the middle with Ravindra Jadeja, the cricketer failed to make it in time as a direct throw from Alzarri Joseph sent him back to the pavilion. He looked disappointed while walking back, as the cricketer had the perfect opportunity to capitalise in the middle.

On the other hand, Ravindra Jadeja, too, looked brilliant with the bat. Usually, the southpaw does not take much time to settle down, but in Trinidad, he changed his pattern. The 34-year-old got used to the condition and played to his merit and eventually scored 61 runs off 152 deliveries. His partnership with Kohli proved to be really dangerous as India remain in the driver’s seat.

For the Kraigg Brathwaite-led side to make a comeback, they will have to be extraordinary with the bat. West Indies have got the talent as they defeated England in the last edition of the World Test Championship and, thus, should back themselves in the middle. The skipper himself, along with Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Jermaine Blackwood, will be extremely crucial for them. On the other hand, Alick Athanaze, who played really well in the last match, will have to keep up with his form.
