Suresh Raina joins India Maharajas for LLC Masters 2023

Former India cricketer Suresh Raina has joined India Maharajas for the forthcoming edition of the LLC Masters (LLC). Raina's participation will bolster India Maharajas who were unable to make it to the finals of the competition last season.

The left-handed batter played 18 Tests, 226 ODIs, and 78 T20Is for team India before hanging his international boots in August 2020. The 36-year-old cricketer has scored 1605 runs in T20Is for India.

After joining India Maharajas, Raina expressed his pleasure to be a part of the league. The former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player also said that the team will be focusing only on winning the title.

“I am looking forward to being part of LLC Masters. The format is such that we will be representing India again. It is always a pleasure to represent your country. We would focus on bringing the trophy home this time. I am really looking forward to playing with all the legends," said Raina as quoted by India Today.

The Co-Founder and CEO of the Legends League Cricket, Raman Raheja welcomed Raina and Harbhajan Singh and said, "We have added almost 20 new senior players for this season to the pool of 50 fifty players. We welcome Raina and Harbhajan to the Legends League Cricket. We hope to see some fireworks from these greats of the game for the India Maharajas.”

India Maharajas to face Asia Lions in opening match of LLC Masters 2023

The LLC consists of three teams – India Maharajas, Asia Lions, and World Giants. The India Maharajas side will be led by Gautam Gambhir, Shahid Afridi will captain Asia Lions, and Aaron Finch will be leading the World Giants.

The LLC started in 2021, with World Giants winning the title in the inaugural season. The first season featured three teams and it will be the same this time around. The tournament is scheduled to begin on March 10 in Doha. India Maharajas will take on Asia Lions in the opening match at the Asian Town Cricket Stadium.
