Trent Rockets have named former Essex and Durham batter Jon Lewis as the head coach of Trent Rockers women's team for the upcoming season of the Hundred, expected to start in August 2023. Lewis has replaced Salliann Beams who served as the head coach in 2021 and 2022. The former coach decided to step down from her position after the Rockets were beaten in the Eliminator by Southern Brave in the 2022 season.

Lewis has worked with England women’s cricket team as an assistant coach and batting consultant. He was also the candidate to become England women’s head coach in 2022, but the position was given to his namesake Jon Lewis. "The opportunity to step up as head coach is a huge honor, building on the foundations laid over the past two years," said Jon, as quoted by BBC.

With over 15,000 runs in his cricketing career, the 52-year-old also had stints as a coach with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh men’s cricket team. He was the head coach of Durham from 2013 to 2018 and won the Royal London Cup in 2014.

Lewis made his debut for Durham in 1997. In 2000 he was appointed as the side's captain after Nick Speak was sacked. He scored 10821 in 205 first-class games with 16 hundreds and 66 half-centuries. The side released him in 2006.
