India star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja had a rather straightforward response to former India skipper Kapil Dev’s ‘arrogance’ remark. Notably, the 1983 World Cup-winning captain did not mince words while voicing his stance on India’s humiliating defeat in the second ODI against West Indies.
Dev opined that the players possess a ‘know-it-all’ attitude and that a sense of arrogance has kicked in due to the money they make in the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, Jadeja provided a sharp take in response to Kapil Dev's comments, stating that there was no ‘arrogance’ within the team.
"I don't know when he (Kapil Dev) has said this. I don't search these things on social media. See everyone has their own opinion. Ex-player have full right to share their opinion, but I don't think there is any arrogance in this team," Jadeja was quoted as saying by NDTV Sports.
"Everyone is enjoying their cricket and everyone are hardworking. No one has taken anything for granted. They are giving their 100 percent. Such comments generally come when the Indian team lost a match. This is a good bunch of boys; this is a good group. We are representing India and that is our main aim, there is no personal agenda," he explained.
These cricketers, they feel they know everything: Kapil Dev
"Sometimes, when too much money comes, arrogance comes. These cricketers, they feel they know everything,” Kapil Dev told in an interview with ‘The Week’ following India’s loss in the second ODI against West Indies.
Notably, the think tank decided to rest senior cricketers Virat Kohli and skipper Rohit Sharma in the second match, following a comfortable win in the first ODI. The move swiftly backfired as the Men in Blue endured a six-wicket defeat against the Windies in a low-scoring affair.
Team India looks to make amends in the series-deciding third ODI at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad, on Tuesday, August 1. A win in the third ODI would also bring home the series for Team India. Following the conclusion of the ODI series, the two sides will turn their attention to the five-match T20I series scheduled to begin on August 3rd.
