India and Australia are all set to take on each other in the World Test Championship (WTC) final 2023 at the Oval in London from June 7. Both the teams have kicked off their preparations for the summit clash as the entire contingent has gathered in London.

Meanwhile, former England captain Nasser Hussain has made a prediction and believes India will win the clash. He claimed that India can learn from their mistakes, having made back-to-back final appearances. Notably, India lost to New Zealand in Southampton in the previous final.

Hussain also affirmed that the Australian hitters faced stiff competition from Indian spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja in the home series earlier this year. However, he predicted that India will triumph in English conditions.

I think India, as they showed in Australia, can win in any conditions. It helps with the balance of their side if the weather is good and if the sun shines at The Oval, that they can go with their formula of two spinners, two seamers, and have (Shardul) Thakur as your third seamer,” Hussain told ICC.

India have played some good cricket at The Oval: Nasser Hussain

While analysing the previous WTC final between India and New Zealand, Hussain remarked that India misread the conditions, claiming that it was an enormous mistake to field two spinners in cloudy and cold weather.

“If you look back at the last World Test Championship, I think India read the conditions wrong. The lights were on all five days, it was grey, it was miserable, it was cold. New Zealand didn’t play a front-line spinner. India played two, and I think seam dominated, swing dominated. India have played some good cricket at The Oval. They beat England there last time in a really good game. I think it’s a pretty fair venue,” he further added.

Meanwhile, it will be intriguing to see which team triumphs to win the championship as both teams prepare for the high-stakes match.
