Former West Indian seamer Curtly Ambrose lavished praise on Virat Kohli and mentioned that the star batter is "pleasant to watch". Ambrose also noted that Kohli is someone who scores quickly without being too aggressive.
Notably, Kohli had to wait for almost three years to score his 71st international century. He finally reached the elusive three-figure mark by smashing a sparkling century against Afghanistan in the 2022 Asia Cup. Since then, the Delhi batter has scored five more centuries, with the most recent one coming against West Indies in the second Test in Trinidad.
The right-hander did not get to bat in India's thumping win against West Indies in the first ODI. However, he made an impact by taking a phenomenal one-handed catch off Ravindra Jadeja at second slip to dismiss Romario Shepherd.
"Very pleasant to watch, easy on the eyes, can score quickly, without getting aggressive. He is not like a six-hitter per se. Not that he can't do it, he can score as quickly as guys you call six-hitters. But wonderful player as well. He is great to watch," Ambrose said during a chat on Khul Ke Official YouTube channel.
Virat Kohli on cusp of joining 13,000 club in ODI cricket
Having spent a decade and a half in international cricket, a new milestone is always around the corner for Kohli. He is just 102 runs short of joining the illustrious 13,000 club in ODI cricket. He will join the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Kumar Sangakkara, Ricky Ponting, and Sanath Jayasuriya. Tendulkar reached the 13,000-run mark quicker than anyone else, in 321 innings. It is interesting to note that Kohli has just played 265 innings in ODI cricket thus far.
India will lock horns with the West Indies in the second ODI on Saturday, July 29 in Bridgetown, Barbados. Shai Hope's men will have to win the match to keep the series alive.
