India pacer Mohammed Shami called Virat Kohli the best batter in the world. The 35-year-old went through a rough patch in 2020 and 2021, with many former cricketers putting an end to his legendary career. However, the Delhi-born batter made an emphatic return, finishing as the leading run-scorer of the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia and then in the ODI World Cup in the subcontinent. He also managed to hit 50 ODI centuries in the process - which is the most by any cricketer in the history of the game.

Currently, Kohli is out of the Indian team, citing personal reasons. He might miss the remaining three Test matches against England as well, which is a bit concerning given India’s poor batting performance in the first couple of games. Courtesy of individual brilliance, the hosts emerged victorious in Visakhapatnam, but there remains a lot of room for improvement as far as batting is concerned.

Meanwhile, Shami also called Rohit Sharma as the most dangerous batter. Popularly known as the 'Hitman’, Rohit was terrific in the ODI World Cup as he managed to give good starts to the team in the majority of the matches. He made 597 runs in 11 matches at a whooping strike rate of 125.94, which is phenomenal, to say the least.

“Virat Kohli is the best batsman in the world. He has just broken a lot of records. I feel Virat is the best but if you ask me who the most dangerous batter in the world is, I would say Rohit Sharma,” Shami told News18.

Soon after the ODI World Cup, Rohit’s form dipped. He failed to put up a show against South Africa and now, he has struggled against England in the first two Test matches of the series. With India in a tight spot at the moment, there are expectations from the skipper to turn things around and the ten-day break between the second and third Test should help the opener. Meanwhile, in the absence of Kohli, KL Rahul is likely to replace Rajat Patidar in the playing XI.
