Delhi has produced a number of sensational cricketers including the star batter Virat Kohli. Among the big names that have played for the state, Virender Sehwag was a special talent and not many cricketers had the aggressive instinct like him across formats. The swashbuckling batter’s son Aaryavir has made it into Delhi U-16 squad for the ongoing Vijay Merchant Trophy.
Notably, Aaryavir is one amongst the promising upcoming cricketers in the state. He has posted videos of his batting on his Instagram handle and there has been a sense of eagerness among the cricket fans to witness his batting.
Two weeks ago, Aaryavir was named in the 79-member probable list for the Delhi U-16 team. The young kid, however, did not make it to the squad for the first fixture against Hyderabad in the Vijay Merchant Trophy. He was finally named as the 15th man in the ongoing fixture against Bihar.
The official Twitter handle of the Delhi and District Cricket Association posted an image of the team sheet and it went viral after the fans identified Aaryavir’s name on it.

Aaryavir's footwork is very good, he is a good student of the game: Akash Malhotra
Earlier, the DDCA junior selection committee chairperson Akash Malhotra stated that Aaryavir is a classic batter with good technique. He further revealed the reason behind Aaryavir getting the nod in the shortlisted squad.
“Not at all. He is not that type of batter. His footwork is very good and is a good student of the game. You know he was middling the ball really well. Footwork was correct and he played a lot in the V. That really impressed us,” Akash Malhotra, DDCA junior selection committee chairperson, told cricketnext.com.
