In a dramatic turn of events with regards to the ‘selfie controversy’ involving India cricketer, Prithvi Shaw, a woman involved in the incident has alleged that she was assaulted by the cricketer. Earlier on February 16, it was reported that an argument over selfies quickly escalated into a fight, which involved Shaw in midst of the unfortunate incident.

As many as eight people have been named for allegedly charging at Shaw and his friend, breaking the windshield of their car and demanding INR 50,000 as reported in a police case. However, the episode seems to have taken a massive turn as Sana, alias, Sapna Gill’s lawyer Ali Kashif Khan told that the police were not allowing her to go for medical tests and was at the police station in Mumbai. Furthermore, the lawyer also alleges that the woman was assaulted by Shaw as the latter used a ‘stick’.

"Sapna was assaulted by Prithvi. A stick was seen in Prithvi's hand. Prithvi's friends assaulted the group first. Sapna is currently at Oshiwara police station. The police are not allowing her to go for medical," Ali Kashif was quoted as saying by India Today.

The brawl took place when the woman along with her friend Shobhit Thakur, approached the cricketer to click selfies when the cricketer was having dinner with his friend. It is understood that, Shaw had initially accepted to take the pictures but later rejected to be part of more photos as the woman returned with more requests.

Just when the group of people kept insisting, Shaw’s friend had to call the manager of the hotel for help. When the manager intervened, the accused were left angered as they were asked to leave the premise. What followed was the front and rear windows of the car of Shaw’s friend was smashed by the accused using a baseball bat, read the police complaint. Adding to this, the group of people also demanded INR 50,000 and would file cases if the cricketer had not paid the amount.
