India and England are locking horns in Match 29 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Sunday, October 29 at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. After being put in to bat first, India posted a score of 229/9 in their allotted 50 overs with captain Rohit Sharma top scoring with his innings of 87 (101).

In reply, England got off to a steady start as openers Jonny Bairstow and Dawid Malan added 30 runs for the first wicket in 29 balls. However, things took a drastic turn as Jasprit Bumrah came in to bowl the fifth over and got the first success for India by dismissing Malan. The left-hander ended up chopping one back onto the stumps and got dismissed for 16 (17).

Star England batter Joe Root walked in next but couldn’t do much as he got trapped in front of the stumps by the Indian speedster on the very first ball. As a result, Root had to depart for a golden duck and Bumrah picked two in two balls for India.

Watch Bumrah's sensational over here:

Bumrah got great support from Mohammed Shami who was breathing fire at the other end. Shami bowled a breathtaking spell against Ben Stokes who kept on fishing outside the off stump until he was eventually cleaned up by the Indian speedster. He further got the big wicket of Jonny Bairstow making him chop one back onto his stumps. As a result, Stokes (0 off 10) and Bairstow (14 off 23) returned to the pavilion leaving England in all sorts of trouble at 39/4 after 9.1 overs.

Bumrah went on to pick 3/32 in 6.5 overs while Shami finished with figures of 4/22 in seven overs as they bundled out England for 129 runs in 34.5 overs. As a result, India won the match by 100 runs and regained the top spot on the points table with 12 points from six matches.
