Faf du Plessis once again proved why he remains one of the finest fielders in world cricket, producing a sensational catch during Texas Super Kings’ Major League Cricket 2026 clash against the San Francisco Unicorns on June 25. The veteran South African star, who has been in outstanding form throughout the tournament, delivered a moment of brilliance that left fans and commentators in awe.
The stunning dismissal came in the fifth over of the Unicorns’ innings. Amshi de Silva bowled to young batter Lhuan-dre Pretorius, who struck the ball firmly towards wide mid-off. It appeared destined to race through the infield, but du Plessis had other ideas. Reacting instantly, he launched himself to his right and completed a spectacular one-handed catch while airborne.
Interestingly, the catch drew comparisons to another remarkable effort by du Plessis earlier in the tournament against MI New York, when he produced a similar diving one-handed catch to dismiss Michael Bracewell. His fielding displays have become a major asset for Texas Super Kings this season.

Earlier in the match, Texas Super Kings posted a competitive total of 161/8 in their 20 overs. Donovan Ferreira led the scoring with a valuable 45 off 28 deliveries, while captain Faf du Plessis contributed a brisk 40 from just 24 balls. Saiteja Mukkamalla also played an important hand, scoring 36 runs to help stabilize the innings. For the San Francisco Unicorns, Hassan Khan Ghulam impressed with figures of 2/30, while Brody Couch claimed 2/42.
Chasing 162 for victory, the San Francisco Unicorns never managed to build momentum and were eventually bowled out for 139 in 17.4 overs. Captain Matthew Short was the highest scorer for his side with 28 runs, but no other batter was able to make a significant contribution as the innings struggled against disciplined bowling.
Texas Super Kings’ bowling attack delivered a complete performance. Amshi de Silva starred with the ball, picking up 4/28, while Abhimanyu Lamba claimed 2/22. Fast bowler Adam Milne also chipped in with 2/29. Their combined effort secured a comfortable 22-run victory and further strengthened Texas Super Kings’ position in the tournament.
