Former England all-rounder, Andrew Flintoff’s son, Rocky Flintoff, became the youngest player to make a County Championship debut for Lancashire. The 16-year-old was getting into the groove, scoring 32 runs but Sai Sudharsan ended the youngster's debut game in a hush. Lancashire had lost both skipper Keaton Jennings and Luke Wells and were two down for 33 runs in 11 overs.
Rocky walked out to bat and stitched a 40-run stand for the third wicket with Bohannon as Flintoff watched through the stands. He was provided a lifeline as he was dropped at the third slip on 13 after edging one to Tom Lawes. But on the first ball after Lunch, he sliced one off Clark's delivery as Sudharsan grabbed a stunner at the backward point.
“I’ve been with the Club since I was 8 years old, so to have the opportunity to keep representing the Red Rose is a big honour. I have loved playing for the Second XI so far this season and I’m looking forward to continuing to work hard on all aspects of my game,” Rocky had said after signing first contract with Lancashire.

Lancashire was bowled out for 204 inside 59 overs after being to put bat first. At the end of Day 1, Surrey scored 83 runs with 10 wickets intact. Rory Burns remained unbeaten on 44 and Sibley partnered him well with 37 runs as bad light caused the premature end to Day 1. Surrey will enter Day 2 with utmost confidence, as Jordan Clark’s 4 for 57 and Dan Worrall’s 3 for 31 provided them with a below-average total to surpass.
